This is a strange thing for him to keep a secret from her for so long. I don’t understand why he didn’t feel like he could share that when she’s got way bigger complications and they were able to talk about them just fine.

1. It simply never came up, and he isn't really prone to digging up the past.
2. Some things could be REALLY hard to brought up and talk about. Especially family ones. Especially ones that are that deep and complicated and leave scars you don't want to touch.
3. He simply didn't want to put all of his own personal problems on his spider fiancee. After all, it's his own problems, not hers, and you don't want to burden your SO with it. It's okay to share if it's being dug up on occasion, it's not okay to use your SO as your personal therapist.

She probably wasn't like, furious, but she was being kinda distant because she wasn't happy with Haru for keeping mum about his parents. Haru seems to have headed it off before she simmered for very long, but she seemed to be in the state where she was upset he was keeping a secret, but also not wanting to pry and let him talk about it on his own.

His father could just be depressed. Not everyone has the willpower to deal with everything at once.
Multiple kids, your wife is at death's door, and maybe you're not just a great communicator.
So when all those things add on top of each other and your youngest starts dreaming of being an actor - a career path that is rocky at it's best - you tell him no the best you can, but maybe you were just a little bit too harsh, a little bit too crude.

And now that kid is looking at you like that, like he hates you.

But that's just me playing devil's advocate, maybe his father is a big pos
