As much as there are spiders in real life that do so, even then it usually isn't their first choice, so i doubt it's so for a yokai.

What makes it even worse is that for the vast majority of spider species, it's the females that engage in such cannibalism (the few species with male-on-female cannibalism have a male-biased dimorphism instead of female-biased), and even then it's actually rare in the wild and largely happens when a male tries to court a female and fails to offer a satisfying food item as a gift to sate her hunger. If we are to measure these spider yôkai by their animal counterparts' standards, this guy is almost certainly an abominable deviant.
