To be fair. In Japan there some rural revitalization projects, and rural housing is actually pretty cheap when compared to most 1st world countries.

It's mostly because many rural villages are basically dying out. Aging population resulted in shocking situation were number of available houses is getting larger than numbers of people.

So i can belive that well paid job with some side gigs and maybe a good mortgage he could affort it.

Genuinely wondering, is the housing situation as bad in Japan as it is in the US? Off the top of my head my thought is that they wouldn't have a problem with housing if the population decline is what people meme about it being, but then again it also occurred to me that if a country has lots of old people, if they hog up all the housing it could be tough for younger folks to find.
