It bothers me that people are strike-reacting that comment. Even if they like the battle drama, what's wrong with someone saying they, personally, don't?I miss when this was more slice of life and romance, and there wasn't high-stakes blood-fued crap going on all the time.
I get the impression the author realized they made an interesting world and now they're trying to do something larger scale with it than originally intended, as there's an audience for it now. Personally I'm not too interested in that stuff either. But it takes a certain sort of writing discipline to maintain scope and feel over time. It's kinda like a meme I can't find right now (edit: it's here) about how the typical progression of webcomics was to start out being about a couple of silly friends, and then by the end they're fighting god. (Granted that was more of a circa 2000 trend.)
