@Ochrolv I am glad you also read the other Bakarina anthology I translated . If you're interested, I also work on translations of the mangas and the Bakarina Hard Mode / Verge of Destruction spin off ^^.
I really hope other Bakarina anthologies will come out. I would definitely work on them if there were!

Firstly, you're talking about eating habits. Whether food is edible or not usually doesn't depend on race or country of origin. Unless you're talking about milk, for which Asian people lack the enzyme necessary to break down lactose in order to digest milk.

Secondly, the Japanese aren't the only people to eat raw meat. Steak tartare is widely consumed in Europe and in high-end North American restaurants.

Thirdly, even the Japanese won't eat any random fish raw, out of the same concerns for health as other people do. Contrary to popular (Western) belief, salmon is a very poor choice for raw fish, as it is typically infected by parasites, which can be dangerous if ingested by humans (and other animals) while raw or undercooked. Salmon sushi is also not a Japanese invention, but a Norwegian one. In fact, it took the Norwegians a decade trying to convince the Japanese that their salmon was free of parasites, and therefore safe to consume raw.
