After 225 chapters the author finally realised he had absolutely no fucking idea how to write romance between these two so he decided to just cut his losses and push it.

Does it feel forced, random and having no preparation? Yes
Does it matter? Well actually yes but it's better than having a no-ending I guess.
Still that's about as poorly as he could've handled it I guess.

Not necessarily. Look at Kazuma and Sakura. Granted that in their particular case, one's not the other's direct superior; but it does seem that at least in this company, their chief apparently doesn't have a problem with office romance as long as the parties involved stay productive.

Bro he meant the classic pointless drama trope where the character is so overwhelmed and embarrassed and depressed over their love AND thinks that it has no chance so they confess and leave the town/school/company to avoid further trauma.
