For the side couple who had the proper romance progress so far which is whats expected from grown ass adults. If they had their own story, it would be like 10x more popular than this trainwrack for sure.
I think one of the big problems is that the side couple had actual chemistry, and what Igarashi and Takeda have is a gimmick
But also let's not pretend that the side couple wasn't also just spinning on it's wheels until they got together out of nowhere

ofc, the oldest trick/plot in the book.
I am convinced that even Shiromanta doesn't know how Takeda feels, and now they've written themselves into a corner. This plot device is like Kool-Aid man busting through a the wall in that corner lol like seeya suckas!!

Man I really picked the wrong time to marathon this entire series, should've kept it on the back burner just a little longer.

When I was in college, my Japanese professor mentioned that the Japanese love bittersweet endings.

I feel like tall man going overseas while hamster stays in Japan would be bittersweet.
Random, but I read the same thing in some academic Japanology book years ago.

I was researching specifically why so many (in my mind) stories ended bittersweet, and the answer was that:

For the Japanese society, preserving the status quo and cultural norms/expectations was of much higher importance than for the Westerners, so a work ending on, say, a bride agreeing to an arranged marriage rather than giving up her live and eloping with her true love is a very powerful and meaningful message.

Now, granted, it's a gross generalisation and the otaku media itself presents a ton of different plots, but yeah.

What the heck? Where did all these hate comments come from? Granted I binge read most of this and didn't read most comments, but christ. If you all hate the FL and MLs why yall even reading this?
You answered your own question.
This work has been releasing for SEVEN fucking years.
It started before even the fucking COVID.
Let that sink in.

So, for years we saw no development in the main couple relationship, to the point where most people semi-forgot about them and made ship wars over the side couples, who, incidentally, were the main focus of the work.

Now, after all these years, the author suddenly wakes up and tries progressing the main couple romance, fails at doing so naturally, spins his wheels in place, and finally starts rushing the story HARD.
And it culminates in this lame cliche in this chapter.

The hate is justified, imagine being baited for sever years with this shit.
It's a nice work, but the author really dropped the ball far too many times.

Sorry for the rant. Cheers.
