It is rare you see an author just say they are bored with their story. Unless its some excuse to justify an axe but with the way it sounds, he's willing to continue it if it sells well... so who knows. So many elements left hanging in the air, especially after all the random crap this whole last volume. No consequences or even seeing the results of anything that happened, not even an omake.

Not being sent to jail is normal for manga with assault rape and attempted, same for almost killing him
