I'm personally not the greatest fan of plain whipped cream, so I'm always adding something extra to it (such as vanilla flavoured quark, unless I'm using something more complicated like mousse as cake filling). Yule log is iced with ganache anyway (you only taste the chocolate), and nothing forces you to have plain whipped cream inside. Since the scary wife can bake, I'm sure she could come up with something that suits both of them.

Fresh Cream here would be better translate as Creme Fraiche. It's a bit between sour cream and whip cream.

I think the title should be changed to "My wife is a little confusing" or bipolar since that's what I feel at times whenever I read this. (I'm joking btw, the title's fine as-is.)

@Candymon Over here quark doesn't get classified as cheese, so it's difficult for me to comprehend it as such, but anyway, you can buy it in various flavours, some of them even seasonal. Milk based products vary surprisingly much from country to country, so when I use the English word for something common to my parts, a person elsewhere in the world might think of a product somewhat different from what I had in mind. It can be confusing in both directions.

@Kaarme
Based on your user name, I am guessing what you are using is rahka, which looks like it would be a nice consistency for dessert. Will have to try that out sometime if I can find some. I'm used to seeing "quark" as something with a firm texture similar to feta and sometimes called a "farmer's cheese," but then again I've also seen yoghurt-like products sold as "quark," so that's why I was wondering...
