I mean sexuality is just an algorithm to determine the chances of producing viable genetic offspring with the other individual. It’s not a perfect algorithm, and sometimes, it’s completely defunct (as is the case with homosexuals). Defunct algorithms are not necessarily bad, though, as this might have allowed our ancestors to have someone care for children of the tribe whose parents were deceased (because obviously, they wouldn’t have any of their own). Still, obviously, such traits are naturally selected out of populations.

All that is to say is that the algorithm in the poor kid’s mind has not evolved to account for traps.
