Not exactly. The thing is that, not only has she always has been capable of killing, he also has always known intellectually she is capable and most likely already has killed before. He just has never been hit emotionally with it yet.

IDK, I'm dating a modern person and I know they are perfectly capable and willing to do great violence. I also know and trust them enough that they'd have a very good reason for it. Like, even in his situation, he friend literally could have died from that stabbing, and he could have too when the guy came at him. I don't think I'd be able to fault him even if he'd ended that guy. It's not like she's talking about shanking people for their coins or fun.
