He definitely has some sort of prediction ability, the nightmares of the Capital burning were NOT a fluke. Chekov’s gun and all that. But it’s really annoying, all we know is Cry is either really like this, really good at method acting (to bypass truth potions, which the government forced him to drink many already), or has access to mind/memory/soul magic so only his subconscious is in control and his surface mind is essentially mindwiped.

Cry is one of the most interesting characters. He feels a lot like Cid (from Eminence in the Shadow) where he makes stuff up and is always right. Given how everyone else believes him I tend to think he has a secret power more than is just completely lucky playing a character. I'd love to see a flashback where he actually did prove himself

So the Chief thinks Cry sic'd Liz on the new party to put them in their place and keep them from harassing the locals.

As an apology, Cry asked them to get a Thunder Dragon for him, which gives the new party the ability to show that their strength isn't for show, and that even Cry acknowledges their skill, which should prevent any future conflicts with the guild there.

Of course Cry didn't care about any of that and just wanted to eat dragon wagyu again.
