strange grief is cry's og party made of childhood friends
the clan name itself is footprints, which is cry's idea to slowly retire from the frontlines since he couldnt keep up with his monster childhood friends, this however backfires and levels his lvl higher since he is leader of the clan and everyone feeds him exp + this is a misunderstanding comedy so alot of the plot revolves around MC being "unlucky" but still "lucky" in the same time and everyone misinterpretate his actions so he just becomes more and more "op/genius" to everyone else
originally footprints is made up of similar ranked parties and ppl of similar age (arc brave + strange grief and 3 other parties formed the first gen of footsteps) and are considered the first gen/first step of footprints
overtime the clan itself grew larger and more parties joins and the 2nd wave of treasure hunters inspired by the first gen are called genesis step, this is what i understood from the novel anyways

@hosirus @mdgtpope some correction, there no "Exp" in that world or rather level system like in standard isaki genre(althought this one not isekai but fantasy) people getting strong by absorbing magic from treasure house/dungeon the higher rank the treasure house the highermagic concentration and made you more stronger, in MC case he unable to absorb magic at all that way he end up weak also retired explorer will have their power dwinldle since they didnt enter TH/DG anymore, also explorer somehow able to percive how strong someone from magic that leaking from their body that way some new guy that meet MC for first time often cant belive MC is clan leader of footprint, as for his "unlucky" situation

not only MC unable to absord magic he couldn't percive them either that way when he end up strayed to SSS rank TH that close to Myth and meet "god" in there MC domt feel fear or anything this kinda make The "god" feel he(or its she i forgot) lose to MC and giving him the "tail"
