Looking at her past, she was probably decent at sports since she was like a model student, but still, she's an art student and not an athlete, and a police officer would definitely have some training in hand-to-hand combat, so it really makes no sense. Maybe if she had been a serial killer for years she might've decided to get training in martial arts to make it easier to capture victims, but she only decided to go there after she met Todo which was like, maybe a year ago tops?
