Man now I'm worrying over making sure my kid's don't feel this way.
As an aside, there is one dream I'm against my kid's pursuing. My 8 year old wants to be a ballet dancer because pretty and cool, but I'm thinking damage to the feet, highly competitive environment, not many fall back options in case of injury or not making it at a professional level.
I mean at 8 idk if she'll feel the same way in her teens but it feels like a very 'little girl' answer where you could probably sign her up for a class and see if she gets sick of it after a year, if not "I'll take you to one ballet class on the weekend as long as you get straight A's all year" (tho other than a hobby and training to stay in shape, i feel like unless you live in NY or so i don't think there's much opportunities to be a dancer for real (no offense to anyone living there but you don't really think of like "Ballet dancer from Alabama" or anything like that) even if it's the most cliche "group of girls going to a ballet class" unless she also becomes a teacher lol), unless she'd be satisfied with just getting a cute pink tutu and dancing around with her friends or so (when i was young i also said 'ballet dancer' but even then i knew it wasn't serious when the teacher was asking us about jobs, tho at that age it's not like we were exposed to that much of jobs), but good luck
