It isn't literal incest anyway. In Japan cousins can marry and she his the mother's sister's child and (with the last name different) she was only taken in and not adopted.

Yup, I know that but still use incest to sum up the situation. And I know cousins can marry; it's okay in my country too.

As I said, I dig incest shit, I just saw the potential for the message of the story to be much more impactful if there's no romantic feeling involve.
The thing about Komaru is that, she wants to be make up artist (or something similar, cannot remember exactly), but she curbed her own expectation, thinking she's already a big burden as it is, she should abandon the dream, find a job, and be independent as fast as possible. The difference in the message here will be between:
1. You can chase your dream and be whoever you want if you have a family that supports you
or
2. You can chase your dream and be whoever you want if you have a family that wants to (literally) fuck you

That difference is, well...
