I am willing to wait if the author decides to do a bizarre plot twist about the dude. It does get tiring if the manga were that linear.

Egaki will draw out the torturous middle and make it as unclear as possible what Aneki is cool with and isn't. Lots of devious faces and private moments that cut off at the end of a chapter with an even more devious face.

That was the translator's choice, the raws just say あいつ (aitsu) which isn't gendered.

The most normal person that I can remember in this manga to date is Takaka (or Takenaka, I've seen it both ways), Shinji's friend, and even he has the hots for Komaru. I'm doubtful anything good is going to come from this person.
