You pair rice with well seasoned dishes, or even slightly over seasoned ones to get that contrasting taste between the seasonings and sweetness of white rice.

Minute rice (which we use the most over here) is 1:1 ratio. Additionally, we don't add salt. However, we often add either chicken, beef or veggie broth for the added flavor.
