Nakata didn't. S/he just picked up on the context clues that Shinji was trustworthy enough. Aneki called Shinji by name, and she didn't scream for help. So, yeah, just from the interactions alone.

I think MC is fine, he's got the potential to go off the deep end especially since it's Egaki writing him but, so far he's rightfully protective. His sister almost self safricially wants to become independent but is clearly lacking in experience, self confidence and the ability to protect herself.

I think Nakata can tell some of this from how she covered in the restaurant. I think it's more their guard dog instincts clashing than anything else. It's when she isn't lacking in those areas we'll know if MC is actually a problem. I highly doubt it, I don't think Egaki wants further controversy considering how straight everything's been played in this version.

Comparing the translations, I like this version of this chapter best of the three. The "gal" aspect of big sis is preserved, and Nakata refers to lil bro as "customer", more polite than informal like "chap" that Harribel Group had.

I'm just saying, he's been pretty hardcore protective and possessive since the start (well, Chapter 3 at least) and that it's nothing new, or any different from before.
