Well that was a goddamn rollercoaster. I found this last half to be more than a little off putting. A lot more melodramatic tropes shoved in at the end plus the teacher with all his baggage showing up at the end to be this weird "voice of reason" sort of character, it all sort of detracted from Akemi and Kai's personal journey's in favor quick dramatic turns. Thematically I found the conclusion pretty fucking sour too but that would be a whole thing to get into.

Everyone is different, and relationships can get messy and complicated. Good manga, thank you for bringing this last batch of chapters to English!

I really like this manga, but I would like the ending better if it weren't for the vague flashforward in the 1st chapter. This is definitely a case of misled expectations.

Uff this is a bittersweet ending. I used to hate Kai a lot but I kinda felt bad for him. He paid a high price. Ending with the book seems nice to be fair. Not the best manga but I enjoyed it

Its a solid manga, just not my taste (2)
One thing I'm glad is, even after that long-abrupt-painful journey, Akimi keep walking on the way she believes (helping her mother, took the embroidery profession, broke up with Kai), then get paid everything she deserves. Even with the decision to took care Kai-it may be off-putting for some- I still glad she do it because "she wants to do it". No regret, and become wiser adult at the end.

So many of these melodramatic "no one can judge us, only we know the truth" stories redeem characters through cancer. I'd like to see one where the characters make peace without something as extenuating as life threatening illness

I honestly don't know how I should feel.

Like I can see the meaning of the story about just live the life you want without caring about what others would say about you.

But the writing, specially with this last patch of chapters, is just so bad, a full non-stop trainwreck just for some melodrama. The continuous timeskip just hurts the story and characters' development, it's hard to understand and gasp the situation, the charaters' though, or how a bunch of side characters just keep appearing out of nowhere and being forgotten soon later.

The entire story doesn't have anywhere to breath freely, this last chapter is the prime example, Kai just couldn't catch a breath, Akimi came back to his life and he just accepted it like nothing really had happened, Kai's mom showed up for a single panel, he died soon later...

Kitaha-sensei is probably the only thing I actually enjoy, probably because he just acts the most reasonable and knows what he's doing.
Oh and the "What a mess of group we are" panel is beautiful, just sum up perfectly this manga, such a mess.
