It's not really weird. It's one of those typical unrequited romantic stories. LOL. The MC's crush (the black haired girl) got asked out by their guy classmate and she told MC that she's planning to go on a date with him after all. The MC cutting her hair is a sign of her letting go and accepting she can only watch her crush from afar.
