I mean on some level I get why he didn't think they were talking about him. Self worth issues or self loathing can get in the way of rational or logical thinking, but I don't think the mc is shown to dislike himself at all more be ambivalent. True neutral I suppose. I think this could work, hell there's probably a manga that does that concept better but I don't know it. (Maybe it's better in the LN? This is based on one right?)

And then the girl he's encountered twice glances at him and immediately; "Oh holy hell wassup MC-kun?"

I think a lot of average or sub-par manga could be improved very easily. But that's probably not true. I don't know though, a protagonist who hates himself is always interesting to me (when done well)

You'd have to make your last two brain cells fight for second place to enjoy this manga. Trust me I've read the novel and I received a brand new aneurysm from it tax free.
