Pretty sure they're hiding it so they can keep the relationship less intimate, since people might expect childhood friends turned lovers to be all over each other, so hiding it should help reduce suspicions about them being a fake couple. Yeah but childhood friends that secretly dated for ages would still be a great cover. Anyone whoms sees them would be able to tell how close they are sans that restraunt food exchange scene.
