There was a series I was following on Manganello but that site apparently is down forever so I'd like to continue it here but I forgot the name. It takes place in the world of a Dating Sim and I mean literally in a dating sim, not like one of those stories where someone reincarnates into the world of a game but it's actually a real world that's similar to the game they played in their previous life. This is literally a game world where all the characters are like NPCs and their actions are limited by the rules of the game they're in and the roles they're given. The twist is that they are all self aware and seem to be living freely within the limitations that the game has placed on them. Everyone knows their roles, the capture targets know they're the heroines of this world and they're supposed to appeal to the MC who knows he's the protagonist and that he's supposed to try and get on one of their routes, stuff like that. The main plot of the story is that the MC isn't interested in the heroines. Instead he wants to get with his best friend who is the helper character and also an adorable trap. But because you can't just choose anyone when playing a dating sim, only those that are programmed to be capture targets, the world physically stops the MC from making a move on him. The MC is undeterred though and is determined to break the game and make his trap best friend his heroine.
