*sigh* villains in these kinds of stories always forget the first rule of racketeering: you can't take money that isn't there. If you squeeze your prey so much that it can't recover, then you lose any future income from them.
Especially in this case, the town's population, while large, is not really renewable (children take too long to reach financial independence, with policies actively inhibiting that. And this hardly seems like a prime target for immigration). Lordy here will run out of peasants to extort doing this.
Short sighted... Well, I guess people are like that.

He has a point though in that the attack would probably be much safer if they had no qualms at killing, considering sati could actually snipe in that case. But yeah, it really would not be in theme with the rest of the manga if they did, and probably have plenty of undesired consequences even if said theme was disregarded

As for filler, I assume they mean that tilica arc itself is filler, and that it is not considered part of the plot unless mc cooks a meal. because this is a food-manga solely about cooking food

@SomeGuy1 It's mostly just that the author doesn't really understand how this sort of thing works and he just wants an especially villainous villain that people will immediately hate and want dead to give the protagonists something to do because he needs more filler to sell to people so the publisher doesn't yeet him for having proper pacing and ending the story too fast.

Let's be real. If they're that concerned, then their authority SHOULD be reduced. A noble, especially the landowning and banner-raising sort, is like a minor king who is meant to be utterly loyal (and still the property of) the king of the local kingdom. Everything they own is still owned by that king, as are they themselves. When they start viewing it as 'us against the king' or 'preventing the king from reducing our authority' they've ceased to be nobles under the king, and instead become internal warlords and traitors to the crown.

When you reach a state where the king only rules because the nobles allow it, he's not even a king anymore. It's just a council of minor characters who've seized all power and use the king as a figure head to fool the commonfolk. If the king is a just and fair person (suggested, since the nobles who revolted weren't assassinated) then they absolutely deserve death.

Yes this is filler but I don't think its due to pacing since there are still over 6 novel volumes left to adapt. The mangaka has been nagging about having any of his original stories publlished and this arc was possibly a compromise between the author and the mangaka.

@Matt913 this arc is manga original and not part of the novels. If you want to read the novels I advice you to start reading volume one chapter 18 which is when the girls start having their POV chapters.

This arc is supposed to take place mid volume 4 but there are events from volume 3 which havent been adapted yet so even if you are in a hurry I advice to start from volume 3.
