That's how you know these people don't know what they're doing. Lure the dragon out? Are you insane? Once it's on the wing, you are screwed. It can breathe on you as it flies past, and only arrows and magic can reach it. Arrows aren't going to be as effective as melee weapons, and only a few people can do destructive magic. The problem worsens if this is a Dungeons and Dragons style dragon, with magic of its own, and strong resistance to spells cast on it. Best thing you can do is have the sneaky types scout the cave with the bruisers following not too far behind. You'd much rather deal with the traps it may have laid, than a dragon on the wing, especially since you know it's new to the area.
