Well...how would a Japanese person write an American that isn't stereotyped to hell?

There are at least some movies with the isekai, or rather "another world" setting. Two off the top of my mind are The Kid in King Arthur's Court and Black Knight. Black Knight was decently funny, didn't watch the other.

By maybe talking to people from various countries? I know scheduling that would be a pain in the ass, but I think it would benefit people in the long term.

Or maybe I'm trivializing Japanese working isolationism (because damn if they don't isolate themselves while working hard).

@BanditHadron Asking for a japanese manga to have a non japanese cast is like asking an american movie to have a non american cast, or a chinese wuxia novel to have a non chinese cast.

@sarshi agree. Its the only thing I dislike of this manga honestly. In the novels Elizabeth already forced him to cut his hair short and even buy quality clothes.

@MesaOracle OMG that was epic, time for a rewatch of that movie.

@sarshi check the novels. Masaru turns into quite the handsome adult by the end of LN5. Spoilers for the end of this arc

... I'm starting to wonder if Garcia isn't another isekaijin himself like Masaru is. Also, Eli's "WTF?!" face in page 26 is hilarious.

@BanditHadron How're you going to learn how to write from the perspective of another culture just from talking to someone?

Using the US as an example, what someone living in California, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, New York, New England, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, etc is going to be different than each other's experience, and these are the more notable states off the top of my head.

Taking California from that, write from the perspective of knowing what's it like growing up in Southern California, with the mishmash of white, black, asian, and hispanic americans, the weather, the infrastructure, traffic, air pollution, changing eras from the 70's and 80's of surfer dudes and hippies into 90's office high powered offices into the 00's tech revolution and dotcom bubble bursting and economic crash, from only talking to people.

Write realistically and repeatably to the people who live there, without drawing stereotypes.
