So wait, Shoko never called the fucking cops? Even after dude shows up at her parents' house?
These types of plots don't really work if anyone involved has a functional brain. In any real circumstance, this dude would've been caught long ago. You don't seduce girls and chain them up in your basement, while maintaining a public life, without being investigated. I mean, the dude has a kitted out torture dungeon, so clearly the two girls we've seen weren't the first. In any real world scenario, the guy would've been on the radar the second time a chick associated with him goes missing. Are we supposed to assume zero of his past victims ever talked to their friends and family about the handsome rich man they met? None of them had a missing person's report filed for them? All of their friends and family just accepted the shitty stilted text the dude wrote with no followup?

You kind of have to gloss over these things.

I feel like JP cops wouldn’t do stuff about stalkers /chalk it up to a lovers argument but I wonder how fast this would get ‘em resolved if anyone had a gun considering there’s not a supernatural tag which confirms he’s human at least

Esp since he’s implied /looks like a handsome catch otherwise

Yeah, he's handsome and all but then he strangles chicks while doing them while calling them mom....oh and chaining them up in his basement.

Kinda reminds me of how in Ibitsu, the main characters try to contact the police, but the guy completely blows them off and disregards them as dumb kids despite multiple eyewitnesses corroborating their story.
...I would call that bad writing if it wasn't for the fact that worse cases of police negligence happened irl like in the Jeffrey Dahmer case.
That cop showed up in maybe 5 pages, and I genuinely fucking hated that guy.

i mean he is quite brazen/bold about it but there are a handful of serial killers that got away with a handful of victims before finally caught. Tho, considering it's up to 11 volumes or so, maybe there'll be some 'twist' where this POV female protag dies or so and he like, gets plastic surgery /gets a new identity and "moves on" to the next target or it's some semi-connected anthology in the same area where it switches to another unhinged person if it doesn't drag out his backstory or so

(although it does look like her chubby friend is on volume 8? but you never know)
