The one that die was the original, the one who is moving forward to investigate Trauma is the clone or backup, and before someone saying this an asspull remember we know Nichie had access to cloning technology long before this.

I don't think I can grasp how amazing this is, but I can feel it great. This is a satisfied final of an arc. This makes me want to re-read the whole thing.

That would make the most sense, but the way it's worded in the manga it sure makes it sound the other way, which is why so many people are confused. Maybe some localization issue.

This was an unexpected turn, part me felt like Nichie would never understand such things even if explained perfectly by MC. But in the end he accepted it and had a strong enough "conscience" to end himself and now faced with the pointlessness of his previous actions he had some level of regret.
