Dunno how it is for bakaneko's but stray cats need to be soothed and socialized to not get very stressed just by being around unknown humans, which is a kind of thing that human society reguralry needs you to be able to do.P.S.: I'm wondering how working at a cat cafe... as a cat... is going to help them stand on their own, but I'm willing to let the author cook; assuming she doesn't drop this plot thread for a thousand pages like that one where Mio hates being treated like a cat, but not by MC, except she does too, but then also works at a cat care, where they treat her like a cat for hours at a time for money.
Cats are crepuscular, as in seriously awake at dawn and dusk. Humans ar mostly diurnal, as in awake after dawn and before dusk, Bakaneko's are a mystery, but they probably either need to move their sleep-wake cycle to align with human waking hours (It's possible, cats, like people, are creatures of habit, and while there are natural preferences, that for some people are strong enough to cause them problems, for most of us routine and training can stamp them over thoroughly, and I imagine it would be similar to cats if they could be forced to exercise a routine)
Also dealing with things like money, clothing, the discreetness of transforming, and just general "observing human interaction up close safely" which isn't a given for non-pet cats.
Edit: just thought of it, but the whole "being very strict when getting others to work" from the manager, may be part of the herding and educating cats on her part, after all most workplace would be quite curt towards people who tend to get disinterested and distracted as easily as cats tend to do in nature, even humans have problems with being "active" for most of the 8-hour workday when they take their first steps in the workplace, and as we heard from Sakura-chan, it can be quite harsh on bakanekos too.
