Those are pretty disingenuous examples, given that they're related to extremely inflammatory ethical debates that have nothing to do with personal identity. This is more like she dresses up as a maid at a maid cafe but doesn't want her customers to expect her to act like a maid if they happen to meet her on the street.
No, they're excellent examples, since she's opposed to being seen and treated as a cat, except she spends hours out of the day being seen and treated as a cat. Furthermore, she literally acts like a cat, turns into one, and goes out of her way to use that fact to cozy up to the guy who's made it clear he's only interested in cats.

You really don't have a concept of "hypocrisy", do you?

With abortions, the life and death of an embryo, potentially considered a person depending on your beliefs, is on the line. With a butchery, the life and death of various animals are on the line. The hypocrisy lies in committing to an ideal to protect those lives and then turning around and actively facilitating their deaths. With a cat cafe or a maid cafe, there's no ethical question to consider, it's just a normal job, and it's perfectly reasonable to expect to be allowed to check out and not occupy that customer service role once you go home. That's not hypocritical at all. She said she doesn't like being treated as a cat, but she's apparently willing to be treated as a cat in a professional capacity in exchange for due compensation. I don't like being yelled at by angry customers, but I still worked in a call center when I was a student, because they paid me and that made it worth the hassle. That doesn't make me a hypocrite.

"It's just a job" doesn't work when your supposed problem is with the entire basis of said job.

I think it's the selective awareness from him that's killing me. Like I get he wants to draw boundaries.

But he's being a dick about it by pretending her human emotion side doesn't exist. It's quite clear he is trying to establish a one sided relationship where only he benefits and on his terms.... like she's a pet.

He practically told her that her human side is worthless and to stay a cat. Yet he's brushing that off as if it's her fault.

That's a bad look.
And yet she approached him as a cat without him knowing she's a human.

It's like when a guy approaches a girl as a friend, but really he was in love with her all along. When he confesses and she replies, "I see you as a friend," he doesn't have any right to be angry at her.

Bad example. But your point stands.

She should just forget that dude. Sure, he keeps giving her free food, but otherwise it's not worth it. He dislikes humans, which means he also dislikes himself. That's not a recipe for a happy life.
he's like 15. disliking yourself is the norm at that age
