I'm with you on this. Maybe we'll see some personal growth by male MC before this ends, but so far he's been kinda shit to her.
The development (so far) is less funny and stings more than the author probably intended.

Y'all ain't wrong, but remember: Mr. Tiggy is a cat, and thinks like a cat. Considering how hangry he is, a particularly territorial and food-motivated cat. The walking can opener fed him, and helps feed an entire colony of cats (the cafe), and Mii-chan is in heat. Thus, walking can opener is an acceptable mate for Mii-chan, as he will feed and provide for her kittens.

It's not that he forgot her name. He never knew her name in the first place. Because you don't ask a cat for her name. Because normally, cats can't answer.
