Seeing chapter 5 though, he started randomly hitting the other guy because he talked a bit bad about the FMC and now suddenly his objective changed from tolerate/avoid her to get to know her lol

It'd be great if the author would just leave it at that. Kids say some silly stuff all the time and it's weird to get traumatized over stuff some girl said in elementary school. But nope, they just have to come up with a dramatic construct as to why she did it and how guilty she is for it and how her life is a mess for what she did. She's most likely gonna comeback and try to win over the MC. It's just a chekovs gun for romance stories at this point.
