The idea of turning this into some ridiculous competition while in real life it would have been a company decision, and then while the reader knows Yagami is going to win building it up so is ridiculous enough as is. But then to humiliate Aobi by having her cry on Yagami's shoulder is beyond pathetic of the writer. Just write the story without any of that forced crap.

@Pachka84 I know your comment is 8 months old, and you're way past this, hell you probably dont even remember this chapter, but regardless you wrote a comment, so im replying to it, because i just read this chapter, and disagree completely.

we've always known the director wasnt a super serious person since we've met her, she can be serious, but she's usually happy go lucky and just likes cute things, this manga tries to tell game development seriously, but its still a manga, thats never been 'strict'
also it was never a real competition, the director straight up told aoba, kou's illustration is gonna win anyway. the reason she did that isnt for some sudden tension or 'building up' as you described later, it was empathetic, and for aoba's sake.
if aoba had just been cut off, she would have looked at kou's illustration, and would have never known if she would have been able to make an illustration as good or better, and would have always pondered, maybe even thinking 'i could have done better'
by allowing her to compete, even if non seriously, she was able to look at her own illustration and kou's to realize "damn the gap in skill between her and me is bigger than i thought" plus she doesnt feel cheated out of her doing the illustration in the first place, since she realizes kou's is better.

Yes the readers knew kou was going to win, and kou needed to win. she was technically defeated in the original competition for what would be this game, and she needed this win to show the readers/Aoba that she's still the best. the 'building it up' part is the big exaggeration here.
did this become an arc that would last for multiple chapters?
did we seriously see a stressful montage of aoba working her ass off to beat kou, giving readers hope she had a chance?
did we see the actual judging of the two illustrations by the director, as she suspenfully picks one of the options?
Not at all, it wasnt built up, and given how you call aoba crying on kou's shoulder forced crap, i feel like you saw this chapter as way more intense than it really was. this chapter wasnt about who wins or not
this manga is just as much character relationships as it is game development.

how is she humiliated? its just her and kou there, this job is serious to her, and this reflects that. kou's clearly not making fun of her, in fact she understands her feelings more than anyone, as well as shows aoba is still a kid.
this part of the comment makes me think your inserting yourself as aoba or something, not that i wanna make a bold claim like that.
