i mean, if it was from his 'side business' i imagine it'd be most girls like midoris with no/dead parents to where there'd be no loose ends coming after versus a grudge from a 'rival' faction like the one nezumi agreed to wipe out

This is obviously the child exploitation/trafficking group. So it seems the yakuza were actually not the ones behind it, maybe that explains the leader's harsh attitude towards Butama after he woke up from his coma? Were they genuinely surprised to find their leader involved in child abuse back then? So even though they are also exploiting Nezumi and Midori, maybe they feel as actually "taking care" of them as compensation, by giving them work and a place in the family. Pretty fucked up...

Pretty sure this was already implied when his daughter saw the pictures of the dead girl, later when she sees her father is awake we can see her gripping her hand so much she starts bleeding
