I have no knowledge of how it is either where you live or in japan but in the US it costs at least $500usd just for the ambulance to come and most insurance won't cover it. If it's similar there then it was most likely done out of financial consideration for her mother.

A cursory search online does agree with @BanditHadron's response that ambulances are free in Japan, but I also frequently read that you generally cannot choose your destination (the paramedics will do that based on the patient's condition and location) and you're limited to one additional passenger, meaning that both Chinatsu and Hajime would not be able to ride with her mother. With Hajime taking charge with arranging all of this, he probably just made the assessment that 7 minutes is a reasonable emergency response time for something that's not exactly an emergency (the mother is conscious, breathing, fairly lucid, and apparently not suffering anything beyond a strong fever and lack of energy), and he feels a responsibility to help and see this through for Chinatsu.

I haven't had motivation to translate it, and since I can just read the raws, it'd definitely be easy to just enjoy by myself. Outside of the US ambulance rides are very cheap as well as hospital visits. Yea the American Healthcare system is wack.

It'll probably happen within the next 3 or 4 chapters. From the WN, there's another street basketball session wherein both Hajime and Chinatsu get advice about defining/advancing their relationship from Shinji and Kana, respectively, which should fit in 1 chapter. Then they have a tense confrontation with Chinatsu's father, which could fit within another long chapter. And finally, Chinatsu and her mother have a discussion about said confrontation with her father, after which she and Hajime make it official, which could be 1 or 2 chapters. We're currently at the end of Chapter 10 of Volume 2 of the WN, with the relationship upgrade happening at the end of Chapter 17.

Spoiler: More Deets

It'll take probably another 8 to 12 manga chapters before they physically seal the deal, since there's normal school stuff, developments with some of their school friends, and the fallout of the confrontation with Chinatsu's father, not to mention an incident with Chinatsu's grandmother. Basically, after the 19 chapters of Volume 3, and partway through Chapter 4 of Volume 4. Also also, Volume 4 has 18 chapters and an epilogue, so yeah, it doesn't exactly end with the relationship upgrades, since the biggest issue (Hajime's "Number 2" status at school) doesn't get resolved until the end.

They're different in a very specific way. In the first message, Hajime refers to her by her last/family name "Minamino". In the second, he refers to her by her first/given name "Chinatsu", which is what she wanted him to start doing as shown on pages 38 through 41. She even reiterates it at the bottom of the same page.

As this is following the LN adaptation they become official in Vol1 Ch4 part5, we're currently at the end of Ch3 part8. So its actually going to be within the next few chapters. This is how I feel the next chapters will go. They have the street ball session where they get teased by Shinji, Kana, Gen, and Makoto about their relationship. The two will then leave and Hajime takes Chinatsu home and the chapter will leave us on a cliff hanger with Chinatsu calling Hajime to notify him that there is someone in her house, causing him to rush back to her. We then get the confrontation with her father as Hajime rescues Chinatsu by taking her away from the house to his place with help from Ishikawa's dad(at this point in the story we do not yet know that he's Ishikawa's dad). The chapter will end with the two confessing how important they are to each other and thus they come an official couple. That is how Vol1 ended. Vol2 covers the father+grandma arc (both get resolved together), followed by New Years since its the the day they reaffirm their love for eachother, as well as explore some relastionships with their friends and resolves the thing between the 2 Satou Hajimes. The real issue comes after this because the LN ends on Vol2, but the story continues past that with the WN. If this is adapted similar to how Toradora was adapted then we're only getting up to Vol2 of the LN with Chinatsu and Hajime's story and wont get more after the resolution of that leaving alot of stuff left untouched. I stated this is similar to Toradora because where the anime/manga ends isnt where the LN ends as it continues onwards and explores the other side characters in more details, whereas the anime and manga only adapted the main couple's story ending when Taiga and Ryuji got together. This means we wont be getting Rena, Saki, Ishikawa, Yuuko, Ichi (Satou1), Shinji, and Kana's stories. Nor will we meet Hajime's uncle as he doesnt show up until later in the WN.
