As was said before by @OsoJr. MC was an old man. He may have gotten a new body. But he still has reason, control, and discipline. Which sets him apart from the hero, who just moves his hips for exercise.

As for the mask, it should be pretty obvious he doesn't want his current actions in any way connected to Shion or the country she represents. Thus the mask and skin color. Blaming it on demons is far better.

They went full demon getup here so it looks like an attempt to assassinate the hero. Shion is just 'accidentally' saved.

I assume that whatever agency or goddess summoned this hero didn’t have permission from the goddess that reincarnated Renya, nor did they have the world’s well-being in mind when they decided.

We learned a while back that Renya was most likely hinted to be an enemy of both the hero and the demon lord or whatever, yeah? Since the hero summoning ritual wasn’t something the blond damegami-whose-name-I-can’t-remember was hoping wouldn’t happen yet.

Are Japanese authors at the point they can't even write something plot-wise that hasn't been done before? I mean like done 100 or 1000 times before? This writing is at the level of doujinshis, and even then, some doujinshi have better writing.

I'm not saying I expect a fucking Lord of the Rings level of writing when we read these stories, but my god, at least have the chick bite the "hero's" dick off or something to change it up a little. I mean at least give us something that separates it from the other stories just like this. Renya being an old man in a young body is not enough to change how generic this is.

IDK, I get we read these stories because of its wish-fulfillment and to just chill for a few minutes while reading a chapter, but when I can predict what will happen when these releases are months apart from each other and I completely forget about the plot, just to come back and see where it's going within a few pages, that's not very good, IMO.

I WILL ADMIT, there are far worse versions of this out there and this isn't so bad it's unreadable, but still, I feel as though it deserves all the criticism it's getting.
