yeah you're right, that's why i had to phrase it "In Japanese society", not "exclusive to Japanese society".

I'm not very aware of how that kinda trend happens in other cultures apart from just the west alone, as I've only witnessed it in Japan atm lol

i guess that would encourage more vtubers/online streamers to e-beg for some stuff. well, it's one thing to ask for something that'd be fun for their stream like a game but i imagine ppl would impulsively put a bunch of random things to see what they can get, tho prolly just best to get direct donations or so (although wishlist aside ppl are just like "Go to our patreon/buy our t-shirt")
