Sorry for not being able to release a new chapter for a long while. I was caught up with a ton of other stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to get another chapter out on the upcoming weeks, college has been incredibly heavy on me as I'm preparing for an internship with a hospital these days

Good luck

Hm considering they seem “understaffed” and no actual consequences /punishments im surprised he wouldn’t just flake now and then if not there being other places that don’t get super busy

Dang an earthquake? I’m too much of a light sleeper but you’d think ppl wouldn’t necessarily go to a konbini if something like that happens (that said I feel like you might as well take advantage of the chaos and steal some snacks /shot)

“Raw” milk? Does Jp konbini not have pasteurized milk bottles? Tho I’d tend to buy strawberry but I guess it depends on if ur lactose intolerant as well

Most likely he's lactose intolerant as most Japanese. "Raw" would then refer to drinking it directly instead of mixing it into tea or coffee (etc.), which helps if you are lactose intolerant. I have seen bottles of unpasteurised French milk; they might sell that in Japan as well, not around here though. Not sure why you would go for that if you are lactose intolerant as the lack of pasteurisation and homogenisation probably increases the risk of a reaction.

In my part of the world we mean colostrum when we say raw milk. Colostrum is the first breastmilk released by mammary glands after birth. It's a thick yellow fluid that is extremely rich in nutrients, antioxidants and antibodies, and will kickstart the babys or calfs immune system. I've only seen it sold here freeze dried as loose powder or in capsules.

Ironic given how popular milk tea is tho outside of strawberry I usually get fruit tea lol

And I get mixing tho I feel like adding it to coffee would wreck ur stomach even more since it’s a diuretic(?)

I wonder if he’s rly trying to be “nice” tho bc I wouldn’t put it past him to purposefully say those facts to get under his skin , tho I guess it makes for more “material” he could use , depending on how much JP readers like self deprecating humor

It's not because it's a diuretic even though that's true, but it has more to do about coffee's natural tendency to be acidic. Our stomach has its own way of balancing itself if it gets too acidic or basic, but before it does, you'll feel the pains first.

That said, if your stomach can't handle a single cup of joe, then maybe something really is wrong with your stomach. Your stomach's pH level shouldn't drastically change just because of a single sip of coffee - that'll only happen if you drank a highly concentrated version of it, or if done through the normal way, you drank through a ton of cups.

lol yeah i've heard certain beans are more acidic if not like 'cold brew' might be a bit diff but money aside, i don't think i'd want coffee daily like some ppl, even once a week at a cafe would be my limit not counting like some bottled coffee if there's nothing else to drink

i did drink french? coffee /something strong at like a chinese-viet place and it kinda made me wanna die so yeah i'm fine with the 'basic' drinks like mochas/lattes or whatever lol

Although even tho matsukoma said he 'carelessly' drank some milk it does seem like something one might do on purpose as an excuse to get outta work, which wouldn't rly work given how intense this konbini says, even with some doctors note/diagnosis i imagine most ppl couldn't rly just say "boss i have a stomach ache" and being sent home, outside of maybe the very first time, unless you literally pass out or throw up in front of your manager everyone else is most likely to tell you to suck it up and keep working
