Basically, their version of the laser weapon for air defense which is basically powered by the early to late 18th century technology.

Jokes on you boi, that didn't took it down. It may have done some damage but after some down time, that plane will be back for a vengeance.

Reminds me of the B52 joke...

B-52 declares an emergency due to engine failure. The tower clears the pattern and clears the B-52 to land.
F-15 pilot on the radio: "Ah, yes, the dreaded seven engine landing!"
Yeah, they took out an engine on a four engine plane, but hey, modern two engine commercial planes can still fly with just one engine. The plane's out but not down, and now that gun crew's gonna learn what "SEAD" is.

This series has such clashing narrative and thematic tones. You have chapters where women and children and being raped and have spears shoved into their privates while their husbands/fathers are forced to watch, and then you have dudes constantly striking 'cool poses', while pulling goofy cartoon faces, and hamming up their dialogue as much as possible.

It is out of place in some of the chapters, but it works for ones like this where it's like 85% dialogue. You can see how people complained about certain arcs of Slime Tensei where it was just Rimuru and crew talking for entire chapters/episode with nothing visually interesting happening. Adding these goofy Jojo poses at least gives us something to look at with the expository dialogue.

Tis but a scratch. Actually surprised that they didn’t see the cannon on rails before hand and launched a missile.
Considering that,at best, the Japanese recon probably assumed it was just a railway associated building, and that all other attempts to attack the Japanese had been pretty straight forward, this was most certainly a surprise.

And they were pretty lucky, since it just nicked the propeller right off and started an engine fire.

But considering it was a beam, they're definitely about to eat that missile real soon.
Japan aside, the tech level of this setting is all over the place. From 'magical medieval' to 'hi-tech 1950's' and everything in between.
Well,it varies between regions.

The level of variance is larger then what we had for sure, which could be summed up to rapid progress by some nations either for their own sake, like Mu,or just enough to expand out, like Para did.
That flat screen though... And what the hell with a futuristic laser weapon?...
That is NOT a flat screen.

And they did say it was based off old light magic,so I would assume an oversized wand.
