I know it doesn't fit the story but the idea that he's my dad i need to stick up for him doesn't really apply when you dad is such a massive piece of shit like kanamori. Kanamori completely abandoned wagatsuma and turned him away after his mother died and he had no where to go(iirc). Then wagatsuma goes back in time and decides to be his teenage dads lackey? I'm all form familial fealty but it has to be at least somewhat justified. This is such a weird message to send.

The battle to decided for the time divergent change between the two time traveler is over and I'm glad Wagatsuma didn't go after Gaku's dad after that.. It's also shows that Gaku still have a long way to go to become the strongest in Kumine. If this battle eventually happened in 2022, the conclusion is clear.. Gaku won't rule Kumime until after Wagatsuma graduate before him, since Wagatsuma is one year older xDD

You're underestimating the length a child would go to gain the approval of their parents.

Kana (old timeline) did not know that Waga was his son because he was in a relationship with another woman. When Waga confronted him, he was more confused while his lover was angry with Waga and then Waga ran off.
Kana (current timeline) has not been bad to Waga at all. He took a beating for Waga and hasn't abused him since. Sure he is a dirtbag to other characters but he has not done wrong by Waga so it isn't surprising Waga likes him.
