This is one of those stories where it's gonna feel kind of generic for the first 100 chapters, but then builds itself into the most amazing thing you've ever read. Reading this after 1600 or so novel chapters makes this adaptation seem frustrating. But to be honest, Long Chen doesn't start becoming the bad-ass, domineering, rogue, smart-ass, king of posing, master of the face-slap and groin-kick, and crazy con-man we love until he unites his first school and comes to realize that his cultivation technique requires him to dominate people rather than being sneaky. Compared to the kind of wild ride this story ends up going on, the beginning part with his hometown is by far the most forgettable aspect. It's not bad, but simply average compared to the level of laugh out loud awe experienced later.
