Beating the crap out of each other from the get go. As adventurers should. Tabletop D&D players should bash each other characters more often.

Backstories of the other characters:

Tiaana
A nobleman's daughter and accomplished student of magic, who earned the admiration of her teachers. Although her efforts were to prove her worth to her fiance, he felt threatened by her abilities and pursued an affair with Line, the conniving daughter of a wealthy merchant family. Line and the fiance plotted to overthrow Tiaana to invalidate the engagement by framing her (and her magic teachers) for being part of an academic cheating scheme.

Noble society, more concerned with maintaining reputation over the truth, expel Tiaana and the teachers. Tiaana's calculating father, more concerned about the family reputation, makes her choose between disownment; or marriage to a prominent but corruptly evil noble, she chooses disownment. She makes her way to the adventurer city, but cant find work due to a current glu of magicians. She turns to gambling at dragon races for comfort.

Sem
A healer priest quickly rising through his church's ranks due to his kindness and diligence, but the older priests were jealous of him. A pretty but manipulative church orphan angry that Sem refused to fall for her seductions collaborated with said older priests to get revenge on Sem. She falsely accuses Sem of molesting her, while the other priests back her accusations. The rumour mill does the rest. The church higher up is certain of Sem's innocence, but considers the church's public reputation and inner stability more important than the truth.

Sem is cast off as a weak link. He's defrocked, jailed, and then kicked out of town. Sem later finds an inn run by a retired lady adventurer, one thing leads to another and he ends up sleeping with her. She suggests he try become an adventurer in the city, so he goes there. He does some herbalist/healing services in the city to support himself, but also gets into visiting the local brothels a lot.

Karan
Country girl from a backwater dragonkin village seeking adventure. She gets recruited by an adventurer group who help her out and teach her everything about adventuring, earning her total trust in them. Until the day they betray her during a dungeon run by trying to make her monster bait, and leave her for dead. Fortunately she survives, but she returns to find out they've stolen everything from her, including a dragon jewel heirloom given by her father the village chief. Depressed, she turns to gourmet eating for comfort.

Fun fact - in the original Japanese, the idol performer is referred to with the kanji 吟遊詩人 - bard. However, the descriptive katakana for the kanji uses アイドル - (Japanese pop) idol.

Therefore the whole idol thing must be some joke worldbuilding on the author's side.

Conflicts are to be expected early on in forming such a group; as part of character development, however, it will be interesting to see how the conflict resolution plays out.

It would be unwise to expect it get resolved in a murder-death-kill or lesbian XXX way though.

I love the WN and I'm glad this got a manga. I love how the characters develop but *spoilers*
Nick and Karan are fucking adorable together, with her seeing him as like a dependable big brother and him seeing her as his naive little sister as they spend more time together

If i was the guy with the key i could still suspect the other conspired by bringing a safe that could be opened with a trick to the lock, randering my key useless.

Is it symbolic that the dragon girl gets to protect the gold but can't spend it?

I kind of hoped that with two guys and two girls they'll just form two pairs.

But it seems like the MMC gets it all as usual
