Mission accomplished and the former party leader just tosses a strong damage dealer away? Genius!
I wonder why they didn't steal her sword as well. Also they should know about the anti poison pendant.

@Monkey123 I don't think that party knew about the pendant being an anti poison one. It seems like is wasn't the first time that they done this to new member and I doubt that they would want her to survive when they were planning to rob her after she died. As for the sword I am going to assume that it would of been too much for them to carry back up with all of the loot from the monsters as well. Well, I will speculate at least.....

@monkey123: And share more loot? Clearly the greedy minds prevailed here. (as in they chose greed over having a loyal and powerful member...also they have a 'priest', why didn't he learn cure/antidote spell...that seems like one of the most basic of them)

As for the sword, it's probably either too heavy or worth too little to be worth it.

The pendant was something he got her because of the incident with the scam merchant, so maybe he assumed it's just decorative ones and not magical ones.

@mutsutakashi: He used fake name/identity to get close to newbies and sacrifice them like this.

@Bramia: Well, technically we're still in something of a prologue period, introducing each characters and their past. Like we don't even have flashback for the other 2 proper yet.

@mutsutakashi I think they're a former bandit party or something and his name back then was Viper; the "I am still Karios" is probably a bit of a rebuke about keeping up their current personas or something.

Or, at least, that's how it appears to me based on their tactics and greed.

This is why some of us don't like bandit parties, their too cutthroat for any deals.

She quite well deserved that. Seeing how much of a moron she was.

Capable team members are the biggest treasure. Abandoning them like that is a sign of short-sightedness incompatible with adventuring career.
I mean, adventurers are supposed to be live-fast-die-young types, but if you don't plan to adventure for at least a year before retiring, you should not even start.

@flannan I see you're an isekai adventurer expert. I should at least expect this level of degeneracy.

@Ribath - I have played over a hundred RPGs. And read half as much isekai stories.
But you don't need my level of experience to understand - there is much money to be had when you have a good adventuring party. And there is much death to be had when adventuring alone or with underqualified people.

@flannan They aren't adventuring, they are running a scam where they bait newbies into joining their party, make them do the dirty work for them and reap the reward. They are probably wanted if they've done it in the past as well so they wouldn't want to stay in the same place for a long time, get it? Also, this world doesn't function like most fantasy ones, there are idols and instead of quests you have to complete dungeons in order to level your party, who knows, "adventuring" might work in a different way as well.

@Ribath - well, this setting has respawning (and possibly instanced) dungeons. As evidenced by people knowing what's the boss is like in advance. Which means that even if the dragon girl gets 50% of the loot, they can just get that loot by running the dungeon two times. And running a dungeon one more time is typically faster than changing identity and befriending a new newbie. Who might not be as capable, making the whole job a lot more risky.

A party that is capable of clearing a dungeon in relative safety is an economic asset that brings a nice income. But those guys are too tied to their identity as scammers to realize that. Adventurers have to be better than that. Cleverer, greedier, more capable of lateral thinking.

@flannan People have been theorizing this on other comments, but they probably used to be bandits, or did some nasty stuff on the past. Hence why they are hiding their identities, not because they want to make new parties, I would presume. If they could indeed keep on scamming people and getting easy money that way it would indeed be more profitable, but you'd think they have some kind of limitation(their past) or they're just dumb for the sake of plot. Maybe it's revealed in the future or we never come back to these characters ever again.
