To be fair, karan, sem and tianna are typical jrpg, specifically dragon quest with a bit of final fantasy, stereotypes, while nick is basically a typical isekai'd person in isekai stories.
I can definitely see them saving the world, if only for how absurd some rpg parties can be, with bond being your typical talking sword from most stories, mainly, a character with querks that leads the party along a path.
