Poor Tatsu and the gang. If only they had a certain yakuza boss with a big back tattooo as backup, the takeover never woulda happened.

The question of the bird beasts names ("Usain" and "Bolt") goes way back to the early chapters. Then the names were briefly mentioned in an earlier arc in which it was said that it was the original owner of "Usain" and "Bolt" who named them. So now we can guess that this gal (Akane) was the original owner. So author finally solved a mystery introduced in earliest chapters.

(The second mention of the names was around the time the fake princess Ryuu was about to be executed in Lundberg.)

Hard to say. Ryumatsu was just a local boss, and as I understand it, he wasn't the head boss. I expect that he got pushed sideways as well, but I'm sure that he wouldn't have folded like this guy Tatsu.

The author of this manga knows Yakuza history very well. In the manga volumes, he always gives a couple of pages of Yakuza history as the end note.

Very interesting intro between Ryuu and Akane. Did Ryuu just stroll up to Akane while she was singing, and that was their intro? Or had they already met and chatted a bit?

And clearly Akane has a real beef with Yakuza (for raising her hopes, then later dashing them). And now it's suggested that she's following the demon lord. On track to be another person whom Ryuu straightens out with some tough Yakuza philosophy?

Ryumatsu died a while (decade or so?) after Akane. I wonder if Akane is singing her own song, which became known after she died? Or maybe one of her mother's songs?

Based on his initial words, it seems he was trying to emulate the "Dragon of Shinjuku" when he confidently showboated to the rival group. Without reading back, I wonder if that's our main character?

I imagine he'll be able to demonstrate his own code to her, after she tries to push him to break his the way that Tatsu did, then invariably become an ally just like all the others.

Woooo this magnificent work returns. Absolutely well worth the wait. Thank you to the TL team for all your effort. There are very few manga that come close to this one on my list of favourites since it hits it all for action, story, art, and just that extra little bit of spice sprinkled once in a while.

A group can only showboat when the group is big and strong. And Tatsu followed this "rule", showing his weak side just because his opponent is now bigger than him.

Our MC would never have done that. And that's why they targeted and eventually killed him. Because he had principles.

Tatsu deserved what he got for lying.

Yes "Dragon of Shinjuku" is our MC Ryuu/Ryumatsu.

You can't win every fight. And you can't help people if you're dead. Sometimes, taking an L and standing down is the best choice. So Tatsu's yielding is acceptable. But his turning drunken, violent and abusive towards innocents afterwards is not acceptable.

The MC probably would not have taken the L. Or at the least, if he did take the L, he would not have done so in such a humiliating way. We haven't seen all of his life -- it's possible that he refused to take the L, then got beat up and demoted at some point. We do know that even late in life he was still reporting to a boss, so he wasn't top dog. ("Reporting to a boss" from a flashback early in story but not beginning.)

Went back to Ch.1, story starts with our MC in our world during the 2020s, and this character's death takes place sometime during the 2000s so there's at least an 11 year gap between this character's arrival and MC's. Also weirdly enough in Ch. 3 we find out that the previous princess before MC named the birds that pull the carriage Usain and Bolt, not MC. I think there were a few other lore drops about the previous princess but I don't remember what they were.
