These 6th grader aren't literal 6th grader in elementary school.
In the original story they're in a ninjutsu academy where the class are divided to 6 years. So they're the oldest as students and all of them are 15 y.o.

They look older here because of the art style. In the original they do look their age except Chouji, at least imo.

Oh, there's an original story! I was feeling that this was part of a bigger story because there are a lot of unexplained stuff that just doesn't make sense otherwise.
