Yep, just besties. The next step would be having two girls in one panel not interacting with each other and tag it GL / Yuri.
Also, the photo shooting of female cosplayer at comiket are wild !

Overall, I hate the "Girl's Love" tag.

Before we've had - Shoujo Ai, that would go up two girls kissing. And - Yuri, that could go all the way to full blown hentai.

Now we got GL and it's a misleading piece of ...

Anyhow, the manga was a good fluff. Could you pick the other one by the same author? Pretty please? ^^
"Shoujo Ai" is a nonsense word made up by Western fans, to mirror "Shounen Ai". It is not used in Japan by either fans or creators. Everything from pure wholesome fluff to erotica is just 百合 (Yuri), and it works perfectly fine because the erotica will be tagged with something like "R18" anyway.

Compare Twitter search results for 少女愛 ("Shoujo Ai") with 百合 (Yuri), 百合漫画 (Yuri manga). Works published in Yuri Hime range from wholesome to erotica, and they're all just referred to as Yuri. Same goes for ComicWalker's Yuri tag.

If a work is not tagged with 'R18', 'Adult Only', 'Erotica' or something similar, anyone should be able to guess that it's not going to be porn. The idea that we should use different words for wholesome and erotic Yuri is simply absurd.

And what's so bad in having more definitive tags?

It'd serve you well to read an article like "Final Fantasy producer believed the term JRPG was 'discriminatory'." The gist of it is - there's no J in RPG. However, because of the nonsense word made up by western fans we now have a definitive term for a culturally different set of RPG games.

Also having extra tags serves as a reminder of what to expect when you read the story, as of now we are in the situation that leaves little to differentiate between many facets of Yuri and Yaoi stories now that they've been marked with Girl's / Boy's love. Having mature tags doesn't help in the least when the GL is used as queer baiting by the author in a story with a love triangle between 2 girls and a guy.

Admittedly I can't bring many titles off the top of my head right now (except for hentai, these are not that difficult to find and usually have ludicrous plot points that are easy to remember). But there's been examples when Yuri is used as lite flavoring barely excusing the use of GL in the first place, something like Lavender in June, a Korean manhwa, which has a lot of baiting for very little payoff.

This is what happens when someone talks bad about one piece.
