I think this might've been unclear in the chapter (not because of the translators, they've done a solid job imo), but the reason the old brother mentions the labeling of the salt and sugar is 'cause they're labeled like you would on a nutrition label. So instead of just "shio" (塩 - salt) and "satou" (砂糖 - sugar), they're labeled "en bun" (塩分 - salt content) and "tou bun" (糖分 - sugar content), which kinda just makes you think of your health lol. Not really important, but it was kinda funny to me so I wanted to explain.
