I used to have a very firm stance against shipping two characters from different works.
This has changed.
Rihito's OTP is Chorizo from Okarishimasu.
They're both humanoid robots who unwillingly imprinted unto highly depressive, mentally stunted people and have carefully devised an algorithm to dole out praise and punishment, like you'd do to a pet which you feel sorry for, but have an allergy to.
Just imagine the mind games these two would have and how rabid the fanbases would be! Self inserting would-be Light Yagamis would have a field day. Fans of "romance" manga in which nothing happens would get their magnum opus.

Oh yeah, not that it matters, but shipping living people and characters is still extremely creepy

It's だいしゆき (daishuki) in the raws, which sounds like a half asleep だいすき (daisuki) with my very limited Japanese knowledge. It's definitely above the I like you type "suki", but not a full love confession.

It was a disastrous declaration but as time went on we've seen that she was not really wrong. Dude is an emotional blackhole.

I respectfully and wholly disagree. At least for the current point in the story, back closer to the beginning of the story I would agree with you, but not now.

We've seen both Noa and Rihito react to each other in a man and woman type of way. Rihito getting flustered and blushing when at her getting too close while accidentally exposing herself and Noa reacting positively to him and im turn getting flustered by him.

At a bare minimum they are aware of each other as the opposite sex

not seeing him as the opposite gender lasted around two chapters, when she realized that he has a very deep voice after she talked about how she finds that attractive in men

She initially set a hard boundary, and he respects that. If Noa chooses to pursue it I am sure Rihito will fall eventually. I mean we've seen him blushing more than once. (because of Noa)

Best part is it goes both ways.
Noa has blushed and been flustered by him more than once. This chapter he caused a particularly strong reaction on her too.

For those saying she hasnt had any character progression; She held back her strong urge to jump on and hug him! She's learning about boundaries, respecting them and figuring out where its ok to push em a bit!!
